Buck Bumble

Right about now it's time to rock!!! This is another one of those games I had as a kid but it was too hard/I was too bad at games to finish. And now I can safely say, yes the title theme is the best part of the game. But the rest is still fairly enjoyable. Free flight is always fun for me, and you actually move pretty fast for an N64 game, at least until you take a hit and completely lose all momentum after getting shoved in a different direction. The layouts of the various levels gets a little stale, I imagine designing environments in which the player can quickly fly anywhere can be challenging, but your actual goals vary enough to keep things interesting. I particularly enjoyed the levels where you have to capture some enemy infants to interrogate them(??) and where you warp in to activate a bomb your allies hid only to learn the enemy already found it and pre-empted the detonation sequence in an attempt to blow you up as well, so you've got to quickly race through hordes of enemies to escape. Buck Bumble's got ideas! Shoutouts to the goofy multiplayer mode where you play soccer, except the ball is human sized and you're still a bee.
